Epic Blue is dedicated to equipping first responders with a highly reliable wearable device that enables precise 3D positioning in both GPS-enabled and GPS-denied environments. GPS-denied environments include indoors, tunnels, caves, etc while outdoor situations like forests, city canyons, valleys, industrial sites and jamming may drive intermittent GPS availability. To address these challenges, Epic Blue has developed an innovative technology called Shyn, which enables tracking first responders in the most demanding circumstances.
Epic Blue ensures that first responders have access to this cutting-edge technology by offering an end-to-end solution. The story behind the Shyn project can be found at this link: https://vimeo.com/501740295. We take a distinctive approach to indoor positioning for first responders, centering on a localization engine that leverages Artificial Intelligence, advanced sensor fusion, and edge computing. This combination allows for the collection of movement data and the generation of precise locations.
Shyn leverages IMU (inertial measurement unit) data to achieve continuous 3D positioning, utilizing a known initial location as a reference point. Furthermore, Shyn supports GPS tracking and beacons, automatically transitioning to these alternatives when GPS or beacon signals are insufficient. The Shyn device boasts robustness and compliance with IP67 standards. It features multi-functional LEDs and a programmable button, and has been specifically designed to accommodate the use of protective gloves. Connectivity is guaranteed through LTE-M, NB-IOT, 3/4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies.
